Diversity were thrilled recently  to come first in the BBC Choir of the Year Area Selection, voted Choir of the Day on April 18th, 2010.

We presented two suitably contrasting pieces:  Ireland’s rapt  ‘The Hills’ was followed by our own specially commissioned arrangement of Erasure’s “Respect”. The judges praised our ‘really good use of vocal colour and dynamics’, and ‘excellent choral tone’ which was ‘ a very well-blended sound’. They also commented on our ‘well-controlled phrasing’  and our clear ability to be ‘beautifully focussed when quiet, too’. Our diversity was applauded as ‘a great change in style’ and the judges ‘loved.. (our)..energy and passion’, and were clearly impressed by ‘such choral discipline and focus’. Let’s hope we do as well in the next round….

News of our Music Director

Congratulations on Andrea Brown’s appointment to the role of Director of Music at Morley College.  It’s a rather historic post following in the footsteps of Gustav Holst and Michael Tippett, but key to its continued success is having someone in place with one foot firmly in the professional music-making world, and, of course, with Diversity Choir.

BBC Choir of the Year 2010?

We are planning to take the bold step of competing in BBC Choir of the Year 2010. Wish us luck because we are in it to win it! But even if we don’t win, we know that it will be a learning and growing experience, make us a better choir, benefit our audiences and help profile LGBT choral singing across the UK.

We are a charity!
