How to join

If you like what you have read so far you might be thinking of joining us. We always welcome new members, but due to our rehearsal schedules, we have specific times when new members can join us. We tend to learn music by sight-reading at first so if you can read music this would be a real advantage. That said, we do have members who do not read music and assistance to help learn voice parts is given as well.

Next open rehearsal

Our next open rehearsal for people interested in joining Diversity will be announced shortly. Please either email or phone to tell us you if you would like to come along. Email Diversity Choir - info (at) diversitychoir.org.uk (replace (at) with @)

Waiting list

In order to maintain a balance between voice parts it may be necessary for potential new members to be placed on a waiting list, or to accept that they may not be able to sing in a concert (or in the rehearsals immediately beforehand) while that part remains full. Similarly members taking “time out” and returning may also be in this position. The final decision rests with the Musical Director. We currently have vacancies for Sopranos and Altos.

Auditions

A short audition is held with the Musical Director after each open rehearsal, where you choose a piece to sing. Piano accompaniment is provided.

Rehearsals and subscriptions

Currently, rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings between 7:15pm and 9:30pm at the Grosvenor Chapel in South Audley St, W1 and afterwards we congregate in a local pub. There is a requirement for one to two weekend rehearsals per concert i.e. one Sat or Sun from 10 to 4. Subscriptions are payable to cover hire of rehearsal space and purchase of music and can be discussed upon joining.

From January we will be rehearsing at St Anne’s Church, 55 Dean Street, Soho, W1D 6AF Other ways to get involved.

If you want to be part of it all, but don’t want to sing, we always need help selling tickets, setting up concerts and organising the front of house - please email us at info (at) diversitychoir.org.uk for more details. (Replace (at) with @)
